“A problem identified is a problem half solved”, goes a popular saying. When one knows he has a problem, which causes him some discomfort, he naturally seeks solution. Jabez, for instance, knew he was born in sorrow and that his life was unpleasant. He, therefore, resolved to call on the God of Israel for a change, and he received the answer he desired. On the other hand, if one does not know he has a problem, or knows and fails to seek solution to it, the problem persists. That was the case of the Pharisees.
The Lord Jesus Christ healed a man who was born blind. The Pharisees, obsessed with the observance of the law rather than the glory of God, continuously queried the man as to the means of his healing. They reasoned that Jesus was not of God since He was healing people on the Sabbath day.
Self-delusion is a soul-damning “sickness” that hinders people from admitting their need for spiritual help that will make them know more of God. Knowing the Lord and growing in Him is a continuous experience as no one can fully comprehend the depths and mysteries of God. Our desire must, therefore, be to know more of Him.
It does not take much effort for any sincere person to discover areas of spiritual need in his life. As the age draws to a close, anyone who desires to make it to heaven must be sincere enough to avoid the Pharisaic attitude of self-justification and seek God for real purging and wholeness because the delusion of self-righteousness only leads to the pit of hell. Let us avoid it.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Be sincere to know your faults and deal with them.
