Nigerian singer Crayon has sparked speculation about a possible exit from Mavin Records after going on a rant on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday evening, where he criticised the label’s leadership.
The 28-year-old artiste, born Charles Chibueze Chukwu, posted a series of messages that mixed praise with sharp criticism while mentioning the label’s founder, Don Jazzy, and its chief operating officer, Tega Oghenejobo.
Crayon initially struck a friendly tone towards Don Jazzy, writing: “Don jazzy na my boy!!!!!! Una dey maddddd!!?? Shayennnnn sharayyyyyy333,” before directing accusations at the COO, describing Oghenejobo as the “highest criminal”.
The singer later suggested internal tensions within the label, declaring that “Mavin is going down!!!!!!”.
Crayon, who was signed to Blowtime Entertainment — an imprint under Mavin Records — in May 2019, also appeared to take a swipe at fellow label star Rema.
In one of the posts, he wrote: “Rema for the next 100 years no feature. You stole my star from me. Yeah I took tha shiiiiii backkkkk hoeeeeerrrr!!!!! Snakkkkkkkeeeeeesssssssss.”
The outburst has since generated reactions on social media, with fans speculating about possible disagreements within the record label. Neither Mavin Records nor the individuals mentioned had issued an official response as of press time
