Rivers State has recorded 19 new case of the COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 1,991 with 1,775 discharged and 56 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on its Twitter handle, during its daily update of the COVID-19 in the country yesterday.
Nigeria also recorded 373 new cases of the virus. Lagos, recorded the highest number of cases with – 69; Osun-41; Kaduna-40; Oyo-40; FCT-35; Plateau-22; Rivers-19; Kano-17; Ondo-17; Ogun-15; Abia-14; Gombe-12; Imo-9; Enugu-7; Kwara-6; Delta-5; Niger-2; Borno-1; Bauchi-1; and Nasarawa-1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 48,116 with 34,309 discharged and 966 deaths.
Meanwhile, the NCDC has warned Nigerians to continue practicing good respiratory hygiene so as to stop the further spread of the pandemic, which currently has no cure. The commission advised Nigerians not to panic over the increased cases, as the country is on course to curb the spread of the virus.
