Rivers State has recorded 12 new cases of the COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 1,652 with 1,314 discharged and 52 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on its Twitter handle, during its daily update of the COVID-19 in the country yesterday.
Nigeria also recorded 555 new cases of the virus. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with – 156; Kano-65; Ogun-57; Plateau-54; Oyo-53; Benue-43; FCT-30; Ondo-18; Kaduna-16; Akwa Ibom-13; Gombe-13; Rivers-12; Ekiti-9; Osun-8; Cross River-3; Borno-2; Edo-2; and Bayelsa-1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 40,532 with 17,374 discharged and 858 deaths.
Meanwhile, the NCDC has warned Nigerians to continue practicing good respiratory hygiene so as to stop the further spread of the pandemic, which currently has no cure. The commission advised Nigerians not to panic over the increased cases, as the country is on course to curb the spread of the virus.
