The Rivers State Ministry of Health, says it has started training health workers that will carryout COVID-19 vaccination in the 23 local government areas of the state.

The Ministry, which has the statutory responsibility of providing qualitative health services to the residents of the state, disclosed this in a statement yesterday.

It said frontline healthcare workers will be among the first set of persons that will receive the Astrazeneca vaccines, which arrived the country yesterday.

The statement also noted that only government-owned tertiary and primary healthcare facilities in the 23 local government areas, will be used for the exercise.

The state, since the outbreak of the COVID-19, has recorded 6,544 cases, with 259 active cases, 6,190 persons have been discharged, while 95 persons have lost their lives.
