Rivers State has recorded 65 new cases of the COVID-19. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 696 with 273 discharged and 26 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on its Twitter handle during its daily update of the COVID-19 in the country yesterday.
The Centre also announced 587 new cases of the virus in the country. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with-155; Edo-75; FCT-67; Rivers-65; Oyo-56; Delta-50; Bayelsa-25; Plateau-18; Kaduna-18; Enugu-17; Borno-12; Ogun-12; Ondo-7; Kwara-4; Kano-2; Gombe-2; Sokoto-1; and Kebbi-1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 17,735 with 5,967 discharged and 469 deaths.
Meanwhile, the NCDC has warned Nigerians to continue practicing good respiratory hygiene so as to stop the further spread of the pandemic, which currently has no cure. The commission advised Nigerians not to panic over the increased cases, as the country is on course to curb the spread of the virus
