The Presidential Taskforce (PTF), on COVID-19 has said that over 100,000 doses of the Pfizer approved COVID-19 vaccines will be delivered to the country by the end of January, 2021.
Faisal Shuaib, Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, stated this on Tuesday.
Shuaib disclosed that 70 percent of the country’s population needs to be vaccinated, in order to completely eradicate the pandemic. However, he said only 40 percent will get the vaccine this year.
“In the first phase through the COVAX facility, we expect to receive approximately 100,000 doses of the Pfizer and bioNtech vaccine by the end of January,” he said.
In addition, he said the second phase will be a combination of all the available approved vaccines currently in the market.
