Rivers State recorded 7 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 3293 with, 3,031 discharged and 61 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on its Twitter handle, during its daily update of COVID-19 in the country.
In total, Nigeria recorded 999 new cases. FCT recorded the highest number of cases with – (416), Lagos (324), Kaduna (68), Plateau (42), Kwara (32), Kano (24), Gombe (14), Sokoto (12), Yobe (12), Akwa Ibom (11), Bayelsa (10), Rivers (7), Bauchi (7), Ogun (6), Oyo (5), Edo (4), Taraba (4) and Jigawa (1).
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 79789 with 68,879 recovered patients, and 1,231 deaths.
The NCDC has stated that the virus, which causes COVID-19 is more likely to spread in mass gatherings especially when held indoors.
“We advise that people avoid mass gatherings during this time, or hold them outdoors with physical distancing, compulsory use of facemasks and provision of handwashing facilities or hand sanitizer,” the commission said.
