Rivers State recorded 5 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 3,403 with, 3,162 discharged and 64 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known on its Twitter handle, during its daily update of COVID-19 in the country.
In total, Nigeria recorded 749 new cases. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with – (299), Plateau (131), Kaduna (83), FCT (74), Kwara (35), Sokoto (26), Edo (18), Kano (17), Katsina (16), Delta (11), Nasarawa (10), Ondo (9), Bauchi (9), Rivers (5), Akwa Ibom (3), Jigawa (1), Osun (1) and Ekiti (1).
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 85,560 with 71,937 recovered patients, and 1,267 deaths.
Meanwhile, due to the increased in in the cases of the virus, so many state governments have banned cross over services and large gatherings in their respective states.
The NCDC has also stated that the virus, which causes COVID-19 is more likely to spread in mass gatherings especially when held indoors.
