Rivers State recorded 117 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 8,460 with 7,616 discharged and 106 deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made this known on its official website on Friday.
In total Nigeria recorded 636 new cases. Lagos recorded the highest number of cases with – 291, Rivers-117, Taraba-58, Akwa Ibom-54, Kwara-28, Ekiti-14, Ogun-14, FCT-13, Oyo-11, Edo-9, Osun-6, Bayelsa-5 Delta-4, Gombe-4, Abia-3, Plateau-3 and Sokoto-1.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 181,297 with 166,709 recovered patients, and 2,211 deaths.
Meanwhile, the federal government has said that despite the spike in cases, there are no plans for a nationwide lockdown.
