The Central Bank of Nigeria, says over six hundred thousand persons have benefitted from its Covid-19 interventions so far.
Osita Nwanisiobi, Director of Corporate Communication, who made this known in a statement over the weekend, said about N400 billion has been disbursed.
He stated that it received over eight million applications from Nigerians for the COVID-19 Targeted Credit Facility, and that the CBN, will continue to do more to assist households and businesses.
Osita, explained that the programme has tremendously helped Nigerians to exit recession and post the current Gross Domestic Product growth rate of 5.01 per cent.
“We started with about N50bn. We moved to N100bn, to N300bn; today; we are talking about N400bn. Now, the number of applications that we have is over eight million applications and we have done over 600,000,” he said.
“The reality is that we are not resting on our oars. The governor is actually very passionate because he has also seen that what we have done in this regard also help Nigerians exit recession and to post the kind of GDP that we have posted and so he is poised to do more,” Osita added.
