The Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), has announced that 60 health workers and 22 doctors have tested positive for COVID-19 in the state.
Chairperson of the NMA in the state, Dr. Obelebra Adebiyi made this known in a statement in Port Harcourt. She noted that the number of cases in Rivers State moved from zero to 450 confirmed cases in less than 8 weeks with 21 deaths. This is really a worrisome situation, Obelebra said.
The chairperson confirmed that the infected doctors are receiving treatment. She also expressed dissatisfaction over the unavailability of Personal Protective Equipments for doctors and called for an upward review of the hazard allowances paid to doctors employed by the state.
