A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed an ex parte motion filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), seeking his transfer from the Sokoto Correctional Facility.
Kanu was remanded in the Sokoto prison after he was convicted on November 20 on a seven-count terrorism-related charge by the same court.
In the application, the IPOB leader had asked for an order directing the Federal Government and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to immediately move him to a facility within the court’s jurisdiction in Abuja.
However, the court declined the request, ruling that the motion could not be granted at this stage.
