The Rivers State Police Command, has been ordered by a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, to pay the sum of twenty million naira, as damages to the owner of an Orphanage home, Chinelo Nmakwe who was arrested and paraded for allegedly running a baby factory.
Mrs Chinelo, the owner of Life Initiative Foundation, was few months ago arrested in Port Harcourt, by officers of the Eagle Crack team of the state Police Command.
Justice Mohammed Abubakar in his ruling yesterday, condemned the practice of parading suspects and ordered the Police to pay the said amount to Mrs Chinelo.
Mrs Chinelo had dragged the Police to court for violating her fundamental human right, after she was released due to lack of evidence.
After the ruling, the Mrs Chinelo in a chat with Journalists, said the judgement has vindicated her, as she commended the court for the judgement.
