ABUJA – A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an interim order preventing the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions from proceeding with disciplinary action against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
Justice Obiora Egwuatu granted the order on Tuesday, March 4, following an ex parte application filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team. The court’s decision effectively suspends the committee’s planned session, which could have led to an indefinite suspension of the senator.
The ruling puts all Senate proceedings on the matter on hold pending further judicial review. The court’s order was based on an affidavit submitted by Akpoti-Uduaghan and arguments presented by her counsel, including Senior Advocates of Nigeria Sanusi Musa and M. J. Numa.
Further details on the case are expected as the legal process unfolds.
