A Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt has granted bail to the Chief Security Officer of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Hector Ekeakita, and the Chief of Staff, Aloni Olodi, in the sum of ₦2 million each, with two sureties in like sum.
Their counsel, Innocent Nwodoh, who confirmed the development, clarified that contrary to public speculation, his clients were not charged with attempted murder. He explained that the duo is facing a six-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, malicious damage, stealing, assault occasioning harm, and other misdemeanours.
The matter has been adjourned to August 7, 2025, for hearing.
It will be recalled that the Rivers State Police Command had earlier declared Ekeakita and Olodi wanted in connection with the June 20 attack on the Sole Administrator of Ahoada East, Goodluck Iheanachor, at the council secretariat.
