The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Inspector-General of Police and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to pay N10 million in damages for violating the fundamental rights of peaceful protesters.
The ruling followed a suit filed by individuals who took part in the fourth anniversary of the #EndSARS memorial procession. Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice M. Kakaki held that the applicants were unjustly harassed and had their rights infringed upon by law enforcement officers during the peaceful event.
