The Rivers State High Court has scheduled November 5, 2025, to deliver its ruling on the fate of All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidates in the recently concluded local council elections.
Justice Stephen Jumbo fixed the date after hearing submissions on jurisdiction and statute-bar issues in a suit filed by Fubara Dagogo and eight others against the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RISIEC).
The claimants, loyal to the Emeka Beke-led faction of the APC, are asking the court to compel RISIEC to recognize their list of candidates submitted on August 13, 2025, ahead of the August 30 polls.
They are also seeking an order restraining the commission from validating results from another APC primary allegedly held on August 4, 2025, and requesting the court to declare their candidates winners in 20 local government areas reportedly claimed by the party.
