The Federal High Court in Abuja has admitted the account records of American International School, Abuja, as evidence in the trial of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, over an alleged N80.2 billion fraud.
At Monday’s hearing, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented the account statements and opening documents for the school’s Account No. 1000684346, covering September 2020. Justice Emeka Nwite marked them as Exhibits 521-5277 and 621-622.
Bello faces 19 counts of money laundering and criminal breach of trust. The EFCC’s first witness, Segun Adeleke, detailed property transactions linked to the case but could not confirm the source of funds. A second witness, UBA compliance officer Williams Abimbola, also testified, presenting additional account records.
The trial continues on March 6 and 7, 2025.
