The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, June 4, adjourned the trial of Jude Chigozie Okoye, former manager of the defunct music duo P-Square, over an alleged N1.38 billion money laundering case, until October 23, 2025.
Okoye is being prosecuted by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alongside his company, Northside Music Limited, on a seven-count charge bordering on money laundering.
According to the EFCC, Okoye and his company allegedly acquired a property worth N850 million at Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, in 2022, with funds suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activity. He pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment on February 26, 2025.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, the first prosecution witness, Peter Okoye, a member of P-Square, testified under cross-examination that he never had access to the company’s accounts or signed any cheques during his time with Northside Entertainment. He acknowledged receiving funds from the company’s Ecobank account but clarified they were not royalties, as the account also handled revenue from endorsements and performances.
Peter Okoye also revealed he was unaware of the existence of Northside Music Limited until late 2022 and stated he never received any payments from Lex Records while under contract.
Justice A. Owoeye adjourned the case to October 23 and November 10, 2025, for continuation of trial.
