Fresh concerns have emerged over rising insecurity in Rivers State following a series of attacks reportedly carried out by suspected herdsmen in the Eleme and Tai Local Government Areas.
In one of the incidents, a farmer narrowly escaped death after being attacked by herders who invaded his farm with cattle in Egbalor, Ebubu, Eleme LGA. Reports also indicate that a woman was abducted from her farm in the same area, while another couple narrowly escaped an attempted attack along Egbalor farm road.
In a separate but related development, a young man identified as Goodluck Dimkpa was reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen while working on his farm in Ueken community, Tai LGA, in the Ogoni axis of Rivers State.
Residents have expressed fear over the growing insecurity in the area and are calling on security agencies to intervene urgently to prevent further bloodshed.
Authorities are yet to react to the incidents.
