- Visits Rivers State House of Assembly And Commissioner Of Police
The Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Chisom Kenneth Gbali paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule and other principal officers and members of the House, to intimate them on the upcoming International Youth Day and it’s all important theme: Green skill for the Youth: Towards a sustainable World.
In his speech, Dr. Chisom Gbali thanked the House for granting him and his team audience, to project the youths in the state and give them a sustainable future.
He stated, “Your Distinguished I would not want to preach to the already converted but they say, hindsight is an insight to foresight. I would want to do a little synopsis on what Rivers State has culminated into, the struggle for the New Rivers Vision, which you were one of the people that orchestrated and fought thick and thin to bring to bare what we are enjoying.
That Vision, someone had that impulse of thought and a flash of intuition. Perhaps I’ll use this opportunity to congratulate you and all of us that Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS (Africa), is today, a national brand, is today a beautiful bride that the entire nation wants to leverage on.
Mr. Speaker, this is a man that had this hunch to change the narrative of what has been happening in other successive administrations that today, is audible to the deaf and conspicuous to the blind of what Rivers State has become, the wonderful subsisting school of thought of the New Rivers Vision, which the current administration is leveraging on.
It is also on record that this is the first time that a Governor is producing or contributing to a successor, and that is why the New Rivers Vision is a school of thought that keen watchers from different spheres want to buy into.
The subsisting administration of Amaopusenibo Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS is one who is on that springboard of that wonderful framework of action and by so doing, we have been given the opportunity to serve in what is today known as “Continuity and Consolidation”.
Your Distinguished, the Continuity and Consolidation mantra can see the highest single project and administration has embarked upon in the history of Nigeria’s democratic formation. One of the cardinal areas of the subsisting administration is youth development and empowerment.”
Dr. Chisom Gbali, while presenting the blueprint to the House, which contains an act by the National Assembly, highlighted the importance of training youths in the fields of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Solar Energy, Auto Mechanics, and other vocational skills in the rapidly developing world we live in, to enable them to have a sustainable means of livelihood after completion.
In his speech, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule thanked the delegation, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Chisom Gbali, for hitting the ground running and expressing readiness to project the youths and incorporate them in the Continuity and Consolidation Vision of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
He further commended Dr. Gbali for starting his tenure on the right note by putting in place, plans to renovate the ICT centre along Aba Road, adding that the appointment of Dr. Chisom Kenneth Gbali is paying off, as not only a long time advocate for youths, but bringing his expertise in youth empowerment as an added bonus to enhance the ministry in its plans to improve the welfare of youths in the state.
Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule promised the Commissioner that the House will work in synergy with the Ministry to present youth based programs and policies that will enable the youths thrive in the state.
