- Strategizes on how to make the road motor-able preparatory to the burial of the late Amayanabo of Kalabari.
The Honourable Commissioner For Works, Dr. Dax George-Kelly Alabo, FNIQS and the project manager of Julius Berger, Engr. O. Taner, inspected the ongoing 15.24km Emohua – Kalabari road project today.
The primary purpose of the inspection was to assess work progress and quality , to strategize on methods for speedy completion and on how to make the road motorable before the burial ceremony of the late Amayanabo of Kalabari, scheduled for November 29, 2023.
The commissioner was pleased with the outcome of the inspection as the Julius Berger technical team pledged to address the impassable sections of the road promptly. This commitment would facilitate the smooth movement of people, goods, and services leading up to the burial ceremony while the road project progresses .
Dr Dax George-Kelly expressed confidence in the technical expertise of the Julius Berger team, describing Engr Taner as a highly capable and dependable friend and expert who has carved a niche in timeous and quality delivery of projects .
“From what I see, soil replacement, sand cement stabilization, stonebasing , binder course asphalting , and other works are going on simultaneously in different sections of the road , and with the dry season approaching, the project will be completed and commissioned on schedule” he stated.
The commissioner also extended his gratitude to the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for ensuring adequate funding and steadfast commitment to the delivery of the project.
He also urged the project manager of Julius Berger to speed up work progress at the ongoing Ahoada-Omoku road site project and the PH ring road project which has just kicked off from the Eleme axis – Segment 7.
