Popular comedian and cultural influencer, KObaba, has issued a powerful open letter to creatives, encouraging them to persevere in their craft despite setbacks and lack of external support.
In the heartfelt message titled Dear Creatives, KObaba reflected on his own early struggles in the entertainment industry, revealing that for over three years, he received no invitations to perform and relied on free gigs at churches, family gatherings, and among friends to hone his skills.
“Nobody gave me a chance, so I gave myself one,” he wrote, urging creatives to stop waiting for validation or opportunity and instead take initiative. “I started organizing my own shows. I gave myself the opportunities others wouldn’t. And that decision changed everything.”
Now a prominent figure in the Nigerian creative scene, KObaba says his journey is proof that perseverance pays off. He challenged creatives to build their own platforms and keep pushing forward, emphasizing that “quitters never win.”
