The Cable News Network (CNN) has reacted to claims by Nigeria’s Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed that its report on the Lekki shooting is false and a show of “irresponsible journalism.”
Lai had in a statement few hours after CNN released its report on the Lekki incident accused them of relying on fake videos circulated on social media platforms to come up with their report.
He said: Like everyone else, I watched the CNN report. I must tell you that it reinforces the disinformation that is going around, and it is blatantly irresponsible and a poor piece of journalistic work by a reputable international news organization.”
CNN has in a swift reaction to Lai’s claims stated that it stand by its report on the Lekki incident. CNN said: “Our reporting was carefully and meticulously researched, and we stand by it.”
