President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his administration’s commitment to guaranteeing the safety and freedom of worship for all Nigerians as the country marks the 2025 Christmas celebration.
In a Christmas message issued on Wednesday, the President stated that his government remains resolute in defending religious liberty and protecting citizens from violence, in line with constitutional provisions.
He noted that the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, carries a powerful message of hope, salvation, and unity, which should encourage Nigerians to coexist peacefully despite religious or ethnic differences.
Reflecting on his administration since 2023, President Tinubu reaffirmed his determination to uphold national security and stability, emphasising that no citizen should be subjected to persecution or hardship due to their faith.
The President praised the Christian community for its contributions to national growth, especially its role in supporting the poor and vulnerable.
He disclosed that his administration has consistently engaged leaders of major religious groups to address issues of intolerance and strengthen cooperation between government and faith-based institutions.
According to him, these efforts are aimed at preventing conflict and reinforcing shared values that bind Nigerians together.
President Tinubu also urged citizens travelling during the festive period to observe traffic rules and exercise caution on the roads to ensure safe journeys.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a joyful Christmas and expressed optimism that unity and collective resolve would help build a stronger nation for future generations.
