A 16-year-old student of Chrisland Schools, Naomi Olayinka, has earned global acclaim after emerging as the Top in the World in English as a Second Language at the 2024 Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations.
Her achievement, confirmed by Cambridge Assessment International Education, follows her exceptional performance in the June 2024 sitting of the exams.
In an interview with The PUNCH on Monday, the elated teenager described the recognition as “surreal,” crediting her success to strong faith, dedication, and the encouragement she received from her parents and teachers.
“Honestly, I was completely speechless at first. It didn’t even sink in right away. When I finally realised what it meant, I felt so grateful to God, to my teachers, my parents, and everyone who supported me. It was such a surreal moment, and all I could think about was how the hard work had really paid off,” she said.
Olayinka now joins a growing list of Chrisland students making international academic impact. She follows the path of Mmesomachukwu Okonkwo, an alumna of Chrisland High School, VGC, who received the same prestigious Top in the World recognition in English in 2023.
