The Government of the People’s Republic of China, in collaboration with Resh Foundation, has donated food items to the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) Foundation in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The donation, which included bags of rice, garri, cartons of noodles, and vegetable oil, was presented by the Chinese Consul General in Nigeria, His Excellency Jin Ming Yu.
Speaking at the ceremony, Jin said the gesture was aimed at supporting OPM founder, HRM King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, in his longstanding humanitarian activities. He also reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Nigeria, particularly through investments in Rivers State.
“We want to support the King in all his humanitarian engagements,” Jin stated. “More Chinese companies are coming into Nigeria, especially Rivers State, to invest and create job opportunities. This is also part of our social responsibility.”
In his response, Apostle Chinyere expressed gratitude to the Chinese government, describing the donation as a significant contribution to feeding underprivileged families. He also praised the goodwill of the Chinese people, noting his personal experiences during visits to China.
“There is a wrong notion about the Chinese. They are very friendly. On my first visit to China, I was given two cars free of charge,” Chinyere said. “Now, they are thinking about the less privileged in Nigeria. This donation will go a long way in feeding many families.”
Also speaking at the event, General Manager of CCECC Construction Company, Mr. Chin, commended Rivers State for providing a conducive environment for investment, assuring that more Chinese firms would establish businesses in the state to generate employment opportunities.
Dignitaries present included the President of Divine Distributors in OPM and the OPM Welfare Director, Mrs. Maurine Chukwu, among others.
