Four E-crack officers accused of killing Chima Ikwunado, the auto mechanic killed while in Police custody in Port Harcourt, are expected to appear before a State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt today.
The four accused officers are to appear before Justice Florence Fiberesima on charges bordering on torture and murder, among others.
The four officers had pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were first arraigned few months ago. The matter could not continue that day because their lawyers objected to the way and manner in which the prosecution team served them the necessary court processes.
The officers have since been dismissed from the force over the incident. They had arrested Chima Ikwunado and four others for a traffic offence and detained them in a cell where they were physically tortured, leading to the death of Chima.
