The National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons in Rivers State, has pleaded with the state government to provide them with a befitting office space, in order to function effectively.
Head of the agency, Nwakama Ikedia in a statement yesterday, said lack of adequate office space is one of the challenges facing the commission.
She said most times, suspects are kept in the custody of other sister agencies, which is not proper.
Mrs Ikedia, also said more than 20 persons have been arrested in the last five months for child abuse in the state.
She noted that the failure of victims and their families to continue their cases, is a major problem in convicting perpetrators of such crimes.
She said even in cases of sexual exploitation, so many families are unwilling to come forward and testify.
The NAPTIP Boss, in addition warned residents to be careful of where they go to and who they associate with as cases of organ trafficking is on the increase.
