The Rivers State Government has said that chairman of the NYCN in the state, Chijioke Ihunwo does not speak for the state government but has the right to express himself

The state commissioner for Information, Joe Johnson disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

This was in reaction to claims from some quarters that Ihunwo is being sponsored by the state government to malign the FCT Minister and make unguarded statements.

Johnson who also stated that there is no strained relationship between the state Executive and the Legislature said the governor was almost done implementing the resolutions reached in the peace deal regarding the assembly.

On the Court judgement ordering Gov. Fubara to represent the 2024 budget, Johnson described the ruling as unfair, adding that they had since withdrew from the case and there was need for the ruling.

He revealed that there is a conflicting judgement on the matter, adding that the government would obey the last order which directed both parties to maintain status quo.
