— Restates Commitment To The Safety Of Lives And Properties, As Security Improves In Emohua
As Emohua local government area continue to witness improved security following the appreciable progress recorded in the war against crime and criminality in the area, chairman of the local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd has restated the call on stakeholders and residents of the area to support the government with reliable information to aid the operations of security personal deployed to the area.
He said the fight against insecurity shouldn’t be left for government alone, stressing that the safety of lives and properties must be treated as a collective responsibility between the government and the governed.
Addressing Councillors, Governor’s Liaison Officers and Ward Chairmen of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) across the 14 wards of Emohua local government area at his residence in Akpabu community on Monday, the council chairman charged stakeholders, community, leaders, residents as well as business operatives across the local government area to see themselves as partners in the development of the area.
“We are already making progress in the fight against insecurity but we are not there yet because those who troubled us didn’t act alone and we need to fish all of them out. We will not rest until we get all of them but all hands must be on deck, especially in the area of information gathering.
“As you go back to your respective communities, don’t hesitate to call us when you notice any strange movement in any part of the local government area.
“If you see something, say something, that’s the only way to win the war”.
Dr. Lloyd disclosed that another member of the dislodged criminal gang responsible for the untimely death of late Justice Azunda who has been on the run after the killing of his gang leader, Wordi Onuigwe and three others by the police was recently apprehended in Oduoha – Emohua and currently undergoing interrogation in police custody.
The council chairman while reiterating his administration’s commitment to the security of lives and properties in Emohua local government area, declared that the local government area is currently being made uncomfortable for criminals and their sponsors.
Dr. Lloyd said he invited the Councillors, Liaison Officers and Ward Chairmen to handover food palliatives provided by the National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA) to be distributed to residents of Emohua local government area.
He said the provision of the food palliatives was part of the agency’s intervention program aimed at mitigating the impact of the economic challenges witnessed in Nigeria.
He however noted that no amount of food palliative can be enough for the people but maintained that equitable distribution of the palliatives would go a long way in reducing the effect of the economic challenges on the people.
The food items includes Rice, Beans, Indomie Noodles, Garri and Vegetable Oil.
The Emohua council Boss also harped on the need for stakeholders and community leaders to ensure regular cleaning of waterways and drainages in their respective communities which has been identified as mitigation strategies for the imminent 2023 flood as predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Emohua local government area, Hon Uche Minikwu and the leader of Emohua Legislative Assembly, Hon Mrs Love Nyenke joined the council chairman to handover the food palliatives to the Councillors, Liaison Officers and Ward Chairmen for onward distribution to their respective wards.
