Prominent broadcast journalist, Seun Okinbaloye of Channels Television, has urged Nigerians across political and professional divides to come together in defence of the nation’s sovereignty.
In a passionate appeal, Okinbaloye warned that national security must take priority over political affiliations or media roles, citing the devastating impact of foreign invasions on countries such as Somalia, Afghanistan and Libya.
“This is not a time to say you’re in government or you’re in opposition or you’re a journalist, this is the time to stand for Nigeria,” he said. “We saw Somalia, Afghanistan, Libya and other nations invaded in the past; they are never the same again. I am standing up for Nigeria on this and I stand against invasion.”
Okinbaloye’s remarks follow growing public discourse around alleged threats of external interference in Nigeria’s internal affairs.
