The Chairman of the Diobu Vigilante Group, Amatari Bipilade, has urged authorities to demolish the remaining waterfronts in Diobu, citing their use as hideouts for criminals.
In a statement issued Tuesday, Bipilade linked the surge in criminal activity to the waterfront settlements and stressed the need for immediate action. “The waterfronts are known hideouts for criminals. For security to improve, they must be brought down,” he said.
Bipilade also attributed the growing insecurity in the area to inadequate funding of local security outfits, calling for increased support to boost their operational capacity.
He noted that vigilante members have been actively pursuing criminal elements, especially in the wake of recent cult-related violence that has claimed over five lives in the past week.
