Spokesperson of the PDP presidential campaign council in Rivers State and former commissioner under Gov. Nyesom Wike, Hon. Leloonu Nwibubasa has reacted to claims by the governor that he was not consulted before members of the party’s campaign council were selected in the state.
Wike had in a statement accused the party of not consulting him before choosing members of the campaign council, describing it as “disrespect.”
However, Hon. Nwibubasa in a statement described the governor’s claim as false, adding that Wike refused to send in nominees.
He said the refusal of the governor denied Rivers people more representation in the campaign council of the party.
He also said it was surprising that the governor would declare those on the list enemies of the state after they campaigned for him during the primaries.
“It is a great surprise and also of grave concern that Governor Wike openly declared our leaders, fathers and kinsmen ‘enemies of the state’ for their decision to support Atiku,” he said.
“Rivers People must recall that a few months ago, the same ‘enemies of the state’ traversed the length and breadth of this country, risking their lives on land and in the air to help Governor Wike in his ill-fated presidential bid,” he added.
