The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Moroccan referee Jalal Jayed to officiate the third-place playoff between Nigeria and Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
CAF announced the appointment on Friday, stating that Jayed will be assisted by his compatriots, Zakaria Brinsi and Akarkad Mostafa. Tunisian official Hassani Khalil has been named assistant referee three, while Kenya’s Peter Kamaku will serve as the fourth official.
Algerian referee Lahlou Benbraham will handle Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties, with support from Haythem Guirat of Tunisia and Hamza El Fariq from Morocco.
CAF further disclosed that Sinko Zelli of Cote d’Ivoire has been appointed as the referee assessor for the match, which is scheduled to take place on January 17, 2026.
