The Chairmanship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for Bwari Area Council, Julius Adamu, has stepped down from the race and declared support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Joshua Ishaku Musa, less than 72 hours before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.
Adamu announced his withdrawal on Wednesday, saying the decision followed consultations with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Addressing supporters, Adamu said unity and brotherhood informed his decision to exit the contest in favour of the APC candidate.
“I have been in deep consultation with the FCT Minister and have come to the conclusion that Joshua and I are brothers. It will not be nice for two brothers to fight themselves over one office. Therefore, I have relinquished my ambition and declared my support for Hon. Joshua,” he said.
He urged his supporters to transfer their votes and mobilization efforts to Musa in the forthcoming poll.
Speaking at the event, Wike called on Bwari voters to back the APC candidate, promising increased infrastructure development in the area if he emerges victorious.
“The people of Bwari should support Joshua. If you vote for him, i will build more roads in Bwari. On Saturday, come out and make sure he wins the election,” the minister said.
