Prominent business executive and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, has embarked on a hunger strike while in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following her recent arrest by the agency.
According to a statement released Tuesday in Abuja by her legal counsel, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Chikaosolu Ojukwu, Achimugu was apprehended around 5 a.m. at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The EFCC had earlier, in March, declared Achimugu wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
