The All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State Chapter, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, describing him as a revered national icon whose legacy will endure through generations.
In a condolence message issued by the Rivers APC Chairman, Chief Tony C. Okocha, the party extended heartfelt sympathies to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, and Nigerians at large.
Chief Okocha described the late president as a towering figure in Nigeria’s political and military history, whose life was defined by patriotism, discipline, and integrity. He said Buhari’s leadership, both as a former military ruler and a two-term civilian president, left a profound impact on Nigeria’s democratic development, anti-corruption efforts, and national infrastructure.
“President Buhari was more than a man; he was an institution. His spartan lifestyle and principled leadership continue to serve as a moral compass for leaders within our party and the nation,” the statement read.
The Rivers APC also recognized Buhari’s central role in the formation and growth of the APC, noting his visionary contribution to the party’s emergence as a dominant political force in the country.
The party prayed for God’s comfort for the late president’s widow, Aisha Buhari, his children, and the extended family, asking for divine mercy and eternal rest for the deceased.
