Businessman and philanthropist Abdul Rabiu has praised the Super Eagles for their courage and determination, announcing that he will still fulfill his pledged reward of $500,000 despite the team’s failure to clinch the title.
In a statement released on January 14, 2026, Rabiu applauded the national team for their fighting spirit and commitment on the pitch, noting that the players gave their all and made Nigerians proud.
“You fought with your hearts, gave your all, and showed true courage and determination on the pitch. Though it wasn’t meant to be this time, you have made every Nigerian proud,” he said.
Rabiu acknowledged that outcomes in sports do not always reflect effort, but stressed that the unity, passion, and resilience displayed by the Super Eagles were worthy of celebration.
“As a token of appreciation for your remarkable journey and effort, I am still going ahead to fulfill the pledge of $500,000 USD. This is in recognition of your hard work, dedication, and the joy you have brought to our nation,” he added.
He encouraged the players to remain optimistic, describing the experience and lessons from the tournament as a foundation for future success.
“Keep your heads high, Super Eagles. Nigeria will always be proud of you, and we believe in your future victories,” Rabiu said.
The gesture has been widely welcomed by fans, who see it as a morale boost for the team and a strong show of support for Nigerian sports.
