President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the extension of the Bodo–Bonny Road to connect with the East–West Road
The extension project, located in Rivers State, will be executed as a dual carriageway and constructed using reinforced concrete pavement. It will also be equipped with solar-powered street lighting to enhance safety and improve energy efficiency along the corridor.
In a related development, the President also approved the immediate reconstruction of three major federal roads in Niger State. The projects will be carried out using reinforced concrete pavement to ensure durability and long-term value.
The roads slated for reconstruction are the 120-kilometre Mokwa–Bida Road, the 63-kilometre Mokwa–Makeri Road, and the 123.5-kilometre Bida–Labata Road.
Francis Nwaze, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister said, Umahi expressed deep appreciation to Mr. President for these strategic approvals, noting that the projects fall within critical national economic corridors and will significantly enhance connectivity, trade, and development.
He called on Nigerians to acknowledge and appreciate the administration’s sustained commitment to infrastructure development across the six geopolitical zones, particularly in the delivery of quality roads and bridges nationwide.
The Minister congratulated the governors and good people of Niger and Rivers States, as well as all Nigerians who stand to benefit from these landmark approvals.
The approvals are expected to improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges, and stimulate economic activities in both Niger and Rivers states.
