The Nigerian Senate has passed bills for the establishment of 15 new universities of technology across the country, one of which will be sited in Omoku, Rivers State.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, while presiding over the passage of the bills, described the development as historic, noting that such a move had never occurred since the inception of the Fourth Republic in 1999.
“This is totally uncommon; it has never happened in any Senate since 1999. But this is a corrective Senate that wants to address the yearnings and aspirations of all Nigerians,” Akpabio stated.
