The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed two bills into law.
The bills include the Rivers State Child’s right amendment law and the Renaming of Produce House, Waterlines House, Old Aba Road, Liberation Stadium, Elekahia Road and Judges Quarters Law 2021.
The child rights amendment law seeks to amend the principal law in furtherance to protecting the right of the child while the other law will give legal backing to the renaming of certain streets and structures built or renovated by the state government.
The laws were passed after deliberations by lawmakers at a committee of the whole
Speaker Ikunyi Owaji Ibani said the bill will give a sense of fulfilment to Rivers people including the protection of the lives of children in the State.
17 persons voted in favour of the bill to be passed when the speaker put the bill in to vote.
