The Rivers State Ministry of Health has confirmed four cases of Lassa fever in the state.
The state commissioner for Health Adaeze Oreh disclosed this in a chat with journalists Today.
She said the four cases were confirmed at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, adding that one of the cases was confirmed after the death of the patient while the other three have been treated and reunited with their families.
Oreh noted that the state government is working tirelessly with other stakeholders including the World Health Organization to ensure protection of lives.
She also assured residents of their commitment to contain the outbreak.
