A coalition of women staged a protest in Port Harcourt on Monday in support of President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
Led by former Commissioner for Social Welfare, Ifeyinwa Aguma—a known ally of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike—the group marched from the Garrison flyover to Isaac Boro Park. Clad in white, the protesters held placards bearing messages such as “State of Emergency is Constitutional” and “We Don’t Want Fubara.”
Aguma used the rally to express support for Ibok-Ette Ibas, urging him to continue his leadership efforts amid the ongoing political crisis.
Monday’s protest comes just days after a separate group of women demonstrated in support of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, underscoring the growing political tensions in the state.
