The Rivers State Ministry of Health has officially launched an Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System which will operate around the clock, ensuring prompt assistance in life-threatening situations such as cardiac arrest or severe bleeding.
The initiative, which was launched by the state Commissioner for Health Dr. Adaeze Oreh, in Port Harcourt Today, aims to provide immediate response and emergency care to residents of the state.
The Ministry also launched an Emergency Call Center, accessible through the dedicated number 112.
A fleet of dedicated ambulance vehicles, staffed by trained health workers, will provide emergency transportation and medical care.
Notably, the Ambulance System will offer free services, including medical attention for the first 24 hours.
