Rivers NULGE Declares Seven-Day Warning Strike Over Unpaid Workers’ Salaries in Emohua LGA
The Rivers State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has declared a seven-day warning strike, effective from midnight of Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the State Secretary, Comrade Sunday Adeniran, following a resolution reached at the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held on Monday, September 29, 2025.
According to the statement, all local government employees across the 23 local government areas of the state have been directed to withdraw their services until further notice.
NULGE said the strike action became necessary in response to what it described as the “callous and unfair action” of the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, who allegedly denied workers their salaries.
The union further urged all branch chairmen and members to comply fully with the directive, stressing that solidarity was crucial in achieving their demands.
