Armed police operatives have taken over the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja amid rising tensions ahead of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Monday.
Sources within the party disclosed that the security personnel were deployed to prevent the NEC Expanded Caucus Meeting from taking place.
Although some PDP staff members were initially allowed entry into the premises, they were later ordered to vacate the building. Journalists who arrived to cover the unfolding events were also directed to leave the area.
As of the time of filing this report, security operatives had cordoned off Dalaba Street, which provides access to the party’s headquarters, Wadata Plaza.
