A suspected kidnapper and cultist, Gbarani Bume, popularly known as “Pelele”, has been shot dead by officers of the Rivers State Police Command while attempting to kidnap a site engineer at Luawii Community in Khana local government area of the state.
Spokesperson of the state Police Command, Grace Koko made this known in a statement on Sunday.
According to her, officers attached to the Bori Division were mobilized to the community after they received credible information that Bume and his men were in the community preparing to abduct a site engineer
“The hoodlums, on sighting the operatives, opened fire on the operatives and a fierce crossfire ensued between the police operatives and the hoodlums, during which Pelele was fatally wounded, his accomplices escaped with various degrees of bullet wounds,” she said.
