Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The governor’s resignation took immediate effect, according to a letter dated December 29, 2025, which was submitted to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
In the letter, Governor Mutfwang explained that his decision was driven by the need for clearer direction, purposeful leadership, and improved service delivery to the people of Plateau State. He noted that these considerations informed his decision to seek an alternative political platform.
The development marks a significant shift in the state’s political landscape, as Mutfwang is the first sitting governor of Plateau State to formally exit the PDP.
